Tried and True markets partly on the absence of metallic driers. Do these driers really pose a health hazard? Bob Flexner (in Understanding Wood Finishing) says they do not, at least in a cured finish.

Anyway, I think you will like the Sam Maloof Poly-Oil.

As a chemist in my day job, it drives me nuts when they aren’t clear what’s in an oil finish as the marketing folks have made the names all but meaningless. Rather, I should say, you can’t trust the names any more. Lately, I’ve been experimenting with oils and really like Tried and True (polymerized linseed oil). Happy so far. I do agree with you that it takes a long time to cure. I set a piece aside and just assume one coat per week. Though annoying, as a hobby woodworker I can live with this most of the time. Curious about the Maloof product as well. I’d like to think Maloof experimented a bit before he settled on using this.
