Work is by commission

The design is a collaboration between you and the artist.

You will see how the piece is made and from what it is made as the work progresses.

You will know who made it.

It will be truly unique.

It will last and be valued for generations.

How

A commission starts with a discussion between the client and me by email, phone, or in person, usually with some rough sketches. The client hopefully appreciates my woodworking style and I come to understand what he has in mind for a specific piece. Wood choices are important early in the process.

If there is agreement to proceed further, scaled drawings are made for approval with modifications discussed and noted. This work is billed commensurate with the time involved. Wood samples are considered.

Upon agreement to go ahead, I will start building with receipt of one-third of the purchase price. The second third is due at the halfway mark, and the final third at delivery, along with any shipping costs. Photos of the work in progress are an enjoyable way for the client to enhance appreciation of the piece.
